She worked as a nurse in general surgery and vascular surgery for the first years of her career. She became interested in advancing her studies to become a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence and graduated in 2004 from the Canadian Academy of Enterostomal Therapy (Wound, Ostomy & Continence Institute). She currently holds a position as a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence in wound and ostomy consultations for the Jewish General Hospital at the CIUSSS West-Central-of-Montreal. She has also been the Regional Director for Quebec with Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada from 2015 to 2018 and is active with the Hollister Wound Advisory Board for Quebec since 2016. She recently completed the Leadership Program for Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Excellence from CAET in 2016. Through preceptorships for the Wound, Ostomy & Continence Institute, Nevart continues to support NSWOCC development. As nursing continues to advance, Nevart is part of the first group of nurses who obtained their right to prescribe in Quebec through RAMQ.

    Research and Practice Co-Chair < Back Kevin Woo PhD, RN, FAPWCA, NSWOC, WOCC(C) Research and Practice Co-Chair Dr. Kevin Woo is an Associate Professor at Queen’s University, School of Nursing, School of Rehabilitation therapy in Kingston, Ontario. He is known as a leading Canadian nurse researcher in the areas of wound, ostomy and continence issues and has served on a number of expert panels and advisory boards to develop best practice recommendations. He was also the Early Researcher Award recipient 2014-2019 from the Ministry of Research and Innovation. This award allowed him to lead the development and evaluation of an online community designed to promote self-management of diabetes through peer-to-peer online support. He received the Journal of Wound Care’s the Best Diabetic Foot Ulcer Intervention Award in 2018 for his leadership and contribution to this area of research. In 2020, he received the Order of Merit Award from the Canadian Nurses Association. For over 20 years Dr. Woo has sustained a prolific research career, focusing on topics such as chronic disease management, knowledge translation and patient safety. He has authored over 130 peer-reviewed journal articles and 19 book chapters. He is the author of Polit & Beck Canadian Essentials of Nursing Research, a research text that has been adopted by several nursing schools in Canada. By blending his research with an active clinical practice, he has had an immediate and profound impact on the health of people living in Canada. Kevin is the web editor for the Advances in Skin and Wound Care website. He is the Research and Practice Co-Chair of the Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada and the Regional North American Director and Research Chair of the International Skin Tear Advisory Panel (ISTAP).

The NCA independently triages patients referred to the clinic, assesses and recommends the most appropriate modality to address incontinence and implements the plan of care and monitors the effectiveness of the treatment and follow-up. Works in collaboration with family physicians, specialists, community partners and clerical staff. Physical job demands are classified as medium. Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health.
