In 2016 Kimberly was a World Union of Wound Healing Societies Educational Award of Excellence finalist and was awarded the Registered Nurses of Ontario Leadership Award in Nursing Education (Academic), and the prestigious Canadian Nurses Association Order of Merit for Nursing Education.

The CNS is responsible for liaising with all program inpatient units to: proactively assist clinical teams in addressing patient care issues and clinical concerns; ensure clinical interventions are aligned with organizational policies and best practices; and, support education and academic practice, student mentorship, and research activities. A key function of this role will be to provide expertise in the care of medically complex wounds, including pressure injuries and surgical wounds, along with ostomy and continence care. Many of these patients may also have behavioural issues. More specifically, the CNS will be expected to lead Skin and Wound Rounds across the program, undertake assessments of patients with multiple medical co-morbidities, recommend appropriate surfaces and equipment, support the inter-professional care team in care planning and clinical interventions to address patient needs with respect to wound and ostomy care. As well, the CNS will be expected to provide support to patients and families by way of health-teaching, as appropriate. The CNS, Wound, Ostomy and Continence Care will further be expected to build capacity of point-of-care staff in addressing and managing both acute and chronic skin health issues. The CNS will also be expected to consult with others, such as physicians, NPs, other specialty services and supports, both internal and external to UHN, as required. The successful candidate will have many opportunities to contribute to clinical quality improvement initiatives and participate in program development in this role. They should be able to demonstrate understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to UHN values, patient safety, and best practices in order to ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff. As an International Healthcare Consultant, she facilitated strategic business planning for the Board of Directors of the World Council of Enterostomal Therapists (WCET) in Hong Kong, Ostomy Canada Society and the International Skin Tears Panel (ISTAP). A Registered Nurse with a neurosurgical ICU clinical background, she completed the International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Course (IIWCC) at the University of Toronto, studied post graduate business and completed a post graduate program in Not-for-Profit Board Governance at the Telfer School of Business University of Ottawa and Rottman School of Business, University of Toronto.
