    Harm Reduction Community of Practice < Back Lili Berescu (they/them) BScN, RN, NSWOC, WOCC(C) Harm Reduction Community of Practice Lili has been a Consumption Treatment Service (CTS) nurse with Sanguen Health Centre in Kitchener since its opening in 2019. Lili started with SE Health Care in Waterloo Wellington as a WORN (Wound and Ostomy Resource Nurse), and now works as an NSWOC after CNA certification in 2022. They have also had the privilege of working with various community programs, such as the SOS outreach team, the Kitchener LHIN nursing clinic, the Region of Waterloo Public Health, and the Safer Supply program with Sanguen Health Centre. These experiences provided Lili with unique opportunities and insight that have helped them grow as both a nurse and a person. Their personal and work experiences grew their passion as a mental health and harm reduction advocate. Waterloo region is Lili’s home and they are incredibly honoured to be able to serve the people in their community. Acknowledging that their work and play in Waterloo Wellington takes place on the traditional land of the Haudenosaunee, Odawa, Petun, Anishinabe, Neutral, and Mississauga peoples, they work towards honouring the traditional teaching of the original peoples in protecting the earth, community, and preserving culture.     Past President < Back Nevart Hotakorzian BScN, RN, NSWOC, WOCC(C) Past President Nevart Hotakorzian obtained her bachelor degree in nursing at the University de Montreal in 1994 and began her career at the MUHC (formerly known as the Royal Victoria Hospital). She worked as a nurse in general surgery and vascular surgery for the first years of her career. She became interested in advancing her studies to become a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence and graduated in 2004 from the Canadian Academy of Enterostomal Therapy (Wound, Ostomy & Continence Institute). She currently holds a position as a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence in wound and ostomy consultations for the Jewish General Hospital at the CIUSSS West-Central-of-Montreal. She has also been the Regional Director for Quebec with Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada from 2015 to 2018 and is active with the Hollister Wound Advisory Board for Quebec since 2016. She recently completed the Leadership Program for Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Excellence from CAET in 2016. Through preceptorships for the Wound, Ostomy & Continence Institute, Nevart continues to support NSWOCC development. As nursing continues to advance, Nevart is part of the first group of nurses who obtained their right to prescribe in Quebec through RAMQ.

    Atlantic < Back Nancy Schuttenbeld MN, BScN, RN, NSWOC, WOCC(C) Atlantic I became interested in the NSWOCC position while working with Kathy Esligar on pressure injury studies in my role as Clinical Nurse Specialist. The NSWOCC position provides clinical care, and consultation to patients, families, nurses, physicians on wound, ostomy and continence issues at four hospitals in Area 3. I have been in this role since 2014. In 2021, we completed our 13th Annual Wound care Conference virtually with support from National. Prior to 2020, we have held annual wound conferences and biyearly wound resource nurse workshops for 13 years. In addition to projects on pressure injury we have completed work on a variety of quality improvement initiatives. Stream lining products for wound care across home and in-patient facilities provincially as well as therapeutic surfaces are a few of our projects. I am chair of the Horizon NSWOCC team and the Area 3 Skin and Wound Care team. Professionally, I have been involved in leadership roles and volunteer positions including past president of CONA, Canadian Orthopedic Nurses Association, Vice president of the Fredericton and Woodstock Ostomy Support Groups 2016-2021, etc. My passions include pressure injury prevention, pain and wound care. I believe in lifelong learning. My personal interests include reading, running, sports and most importantly being a mom. I am highly interested in learning indigenous traditions as my oldest son is Micmac.

The WOC nurses provide advanced wound, ostomy and continence care through the assessment, treatment, management of wounds (such as pressure injuries, venous leg ulcers, arterial/ischemic ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, complex surgical wounds and palliative wounds), ostomy consultation, and continence challenges. The WOCT also plays a pivotal role in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Pressure Injuries (HAPIs) by educating patients, families and staff on the risks and strategies around HAPIs. Some of the duties include but are not restricted to advanced wound care, ostomy and continence consultation; working with community providers to ensure the continuum of care for patients; developing, delivering and evaluating education programs on wound, ostomy and continence care; participating in wound , ostomy and continence care product line review; participating in research into wound, ostomy and continence care products and participating in the development of wound, ostomy and continence policies and procedures. The position will model, promote and facilitate an RNAO Best Practice Guideline (BPG) approach to wound, ostomy and continence care.
