About the event
join NSWOCC®, ISTAP™, and the NSWOCC Indigenous Wound, Ostomy and Continence (WOC) Health Core Program for a special webinar series introducing the new Evidence-Based Skin Tear Assessment and Classification Toolkit for Indigenous Skin Tones.
Developed through a collaboration between NSWOCC and ISTAP, with support from Indigenous Services Canada, this toolkit was created to support culturally safe, equitable, and person-centred skin tear assessment and management for Indigenous Peoples.
The project brought together Indigenous nurses and wound, ostomy, and continence specialists from across Canada to culturally adapt existing ISTAP resources to better reflect Indigenous perspectives, lived experiences, traditional knowledge, and the social determinants of health that influence skin health and wound healing.
During this 45-minute webinar, participants will learn about the development of the toolkit and its three components:
ISTAP™ Indigenous Skin Tear Decision Algorithm
ISTAP™ Skin Tear Risk Assessment Pathway for Indigenous People
