Presented by 

Marc R. Matthews, MD, MS, MCG, FACS Associate Director Arizona Burn Center Phoenix, AZ

Dr. Matthews graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Biology. He then earned a Master of Science in Biology and Master of Clinical Gerontology from Baylor University. Dr. Matthews received his MD from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Veterans Administration Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He then completed his residency at Maricopa Medical Center. Dr. Matthews also completed a fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the University of Kentucky and a fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at the University of California, Davis Medical Center.

Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Matthews accepted a position at Maricopa Medical Center, where he currently holds various leadership positions, including Program Director for the Burn Critical Care Residency at the Arizona Burn Center. In addition, Dr. Matthews holds academic positions with the University of Arizona School of Medicine, Midwestern University School of Osteopathic Medicine and Creighton University School of Medicine. Dr. Matthews also was a Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force, 161st Arizona Air National Guard.

Dr. Matthews has authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications, textbook chapters and abstracts. He is a nationally recognized speaker. Dr. Matthews is board certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
