Learning Objectives:

  1. Determine the pathology and mechanisms of incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD), including the role of moisture, irritants and friction in skin breakdown.

  2. Describe the clinical presentation of IAD and impact of comorbidities, including diabetes, obesity, vascular disease and malnutrition.

  3. Describe the relationship between IAD and Pressure Injury

  4. Familiarize with current prevention and management guidelines/protocols for treating IAD, including the use of topical treatments, dressings, and other therapeutic interventions.
