Nurse Specialized in Wound Ostomy and Continence

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Travelling to urban areas within Calgary and surrounding areas and, on occasion, Southern Alberta, based on referral location

• Assessing complex wounds and skin conditions for clients who have physical disabilities including spinal cord injuries

• Performing conservative sharps debridement

• Recommending appropriate resources and wound care products based on best practice for the management of specific wounds including negative pressure wound therapy

• Consulting with nurse practitioners, physicians and allied health care professionals regarding wound and skin care recommendations

• Consulting with home health care agencies regarding care plans and wound/skin care education

• Accurate and timely completion of written documents including the BWAT, Braden, wound assessments and other required documents and reports

• Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
