Roxie Demers

RN, BScN, NSWOC, WOCC(C)

Ontario

My name is Roxie Demers. I am a Registered Nurse with the designation of Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence and I am employed by SE Health in Hamilton. I have worked there for two and a half years. Before SE Health I worked at a regional hospital as a Skin and Wound Nurse. I completed my IIWCC in 2018 and decided to continue my education and acquire my NSWOC certification in 2020. I am Wound, Ostomy and Continence certified with the Canadian Nurses Association. For the past two years, I have participated on the Board of Wounds Niagara with our first post Covid Conference in the winter of 2023. I am also on the board of Niagara Ostomy Association, and I have an “Ask the NSWOC” page in their monthly newsletter. I have been invited to speak at their meetings several times. Part of my responsibilities with my present employers is to provide education for new hires, speak at group practice meetings, mentor nurses who have identified need for extra education in wound in ostomy. I have been asked to participate on the Coloplast Continence Advisory board which is a forum for exchanges with fellow clinicians with regards to continence nursing. I am part of the clinical faculty of NSWOC, and I will be mentoring a student in both summer and fall. If elected, over the next 2 years, I would like to improve NSWOC networking opportunities across Ontario.
