NSWOCC Celebrates a Milestone: 1000 Members & Associates

[Ottawa, November 8, 2023] — Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada (NSWOCC) is thrilled to announce a significant milestone as we have reached an impressive 1000 Members and Associates, cementing our position as a leading organization in the field of specialized nursing care for patients with wound, ostomy, and continence challenges.

NSWOCC, a registered charity, has long been at the forefront of promoting excellence and setting high standards in wound, ostomy, and continence care. With a membership base of Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (NSWOCs), and Associates who have an interest in wound, ostomy and continence, including Skin Wellness Associate Nurses (SWANs), Students, Allied Healthcare Professionals, International associates, Industry Associates, and Government/Administrative Professionals Associates, we represent a powerful and unified voice within the healthcare community across Canada and globally.

Our mission is clear: NSWOCC advocates for the public interest and advances the tri-specialty nursing profession to enhance people’s lives by providing innovative national leadership in wound, ostomy, and continence care. We tirelessly work towards the promotion of high standards in practice, education, research, and administration for NSWOCs. Our focus is on delivering quality specialized nursing care across the entire continuum of patient care, from acute settings to community healthcare, education, research, long-term care, rehabilitation, and beyond. We believe that every patient deserves specialized wound, ostomy and continence care.

NSWOCC is not just an association; it's a community where nurses with specialized skills and allied healthcare professionals can come together to gain knowledge through education programs and to support one another and work collectively to influence healthcare decisions that impact professionals working in wound, ostomy, and continence care on a daily basis. We are actively engaged in advocating for legislative policies that can shape the future of healthcare and ensure the best possible care for patients.

"We thank every Member and Associate for being part of the NSWOCC family," said Catherine Harley, Chief Executive Officer of NSWOCC. "With 1000 strong leaders as Members and Associates in our midst, our reach and impact are greater than ever. The future of NSWOCC is incredibly exciting, and we invite all our Members and Associates to play an active role in shaping it. As we continue to embrace new ideas, pursue knowledge, and provide visionary leadership, the possibilities are endless."

NSWOCC has a strong presence in various healthcare settings, from hospitals and rehabilitation centres to home care, long-term care, and patient clinics. Our commitment to the highest standards of patient care remains unwavering, and our growing membership reflects our dedication to excellence.
