Emily has worked as an RN at IWK Health in Halifax, NS since graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Dalhousie University in 2010. In 2017, she graduated from the ETNEP program and completed her CNA certification. In early 2018, she accepted the position she continues to hold as a NSWOC at IWK Health serving women, children, and their families. This role includes all three subspecialties of wound, ostomy, and continence as well as burn care. This incorporates inpatient and outpatient population and serves all three maritime provinces. In December 2022, Emily completed her Certificate in Registered Nurse Prescribing through Dalhousie University as part of a pilot project to better serve the needs of the patient population.

Nancy is passionate about wound, ostomy and skin care for healthier communities. She is a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Care (NSWOC) for over 15 years. Previously, she was employed as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for the surgical network. She has led many research and best practice provincial initiatives, including Safer Healthcare Now Canada surgical practices.

She has presented locally, provincially and nationally on pain, wound care, pressure injury prevention and more. Her master’s thesis explored patients’ decision making on opioid usage for surgical pain. She has led annual wound conferences for over 20 years; numerous workshops and loves teaching. She has volunteered on many local, provincial and national organizations, including the Atlantic representative for the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel. She is currently employed in home care through the Extra Mural program as well as her private practice Skin Wellness RN. This independent practice involves wound care, ostomy consultation, advanced foot care and educational seminars. She resides in Fredericton and loves reading, running, cycling and most importantly her three grown children AJ, Carter & Rachel.

Michele Langille is a lifelong learner whose passion for wound and ostomy care began early in her career as a medical-surgical nurse after graduating from Dalhousie University. She later became a clinical instructor at the University of Prince Edward Island before pursuing specialized education in wound, ostomy and continence care. In 2023, Michele completed a Master of Clinical Science with an emphasis on advanced health care practice and wound healing.

Michele brings advanced wound, ostomy and continence practice to both inpatient and outpatient settings, working across acute and chronic care and with patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric populations. Education is an important part of her practice, and she regularly provides learning opportunities for nursing staff, community care providers and other healthcare professionals.

Professionally, Michele has contributed to position statements, decision aids and consensus work, including as a co-author of a published article. She has also shared her expertise through posters and presentations at Atlantic and national conferences and values the NSWOC community as an important source of collaboration, learning and shared commitment to improving patient care.
