NSWOCC's 42nd National Conference: Canada's ONLY Wound, Ostomy and Continence Conference
We are happy to share some important updates regarding our upcoming 42nd National Conference May 3-7, 2023 in Ottawa, Ontario at the Westin Ottawa.
The theme of the 42nd NSWOCC National Conference is “Let’s Face it! Together!” and will be focused on advancing specialized care in the three domains of wound, ostomy and continence care. The conference will include Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOCs) and Skin Wellness Associate Nurses (SWANs) from across Canada as well as hospital and community-based nurses and allied healthcare professionals including physicians, RNs, NP’s, RPNs and allied healthcare professionals with an interest in wound, ostomy and continence. There will also be a focus on Primary Care physicians and Nurses who have a dermatology interest.
The NSWOCC National Conference Planning Core program under the leadership of Mary Hill, RN, BScN, MSN, WOCC(C) have worked hard to develop a leading-edge educational program featuring national and international subject matter experts in the areas of wound, ostomy and continence care. Topics will also be delivered to assist you in facing Wound & Skin, Ostomy, Continence & Leadership and Advanced Dermatology Skin Management.

In the morning, join NSWOCC and our Industry partners for the second annual NIAC Industry & Science Day!
Given the complexity of caring for individuals living with wound, ostomy and continence related issues, it is imperative that Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence have access to research, cutting edge and innovative products and technologies. Industry partners influence the care of those with wound, ostomy and continence issues through the generation and dissemination of knowledge and the development of products and technologies.
Science has driven innovation in products and technologies more than we have ever seen before. This improves clinical outcomes which benefits the patient, saves time and resources, advances specialized nursing care and saves money.
These sessions will help attendees learn more about Science and Industry – and how product performance can impact patient care delivery

We're happy to announce some of our featured sessions on Friday, including a special plenary with a focus on complex Skin & Wound issues, concurrent sessions on the latest trends in Ostomy management & reimbursement, as well as a session presenting best practices & decision making in urinary catheter selection.
Friday will also feature multiple sessions in the SWAN and French streams.
For SWANs, we invite you to join sessions covering Skin Tears, Treatment of Palliative Wounds, and the Foundations of Foot Care.

On Sunday, NSWOCC will be hosting a Special Off-Site Event: “Pancakes, Posters, and Publications” Articles, Abstracts and Poster Development Workshop for a limited number of registrants.
New Streams this year: French Language & Skin Wellness Associate Nurse (SWAN) Streams,
We are thrilled to present a new SWAN stream this year at our National Conference, which will feature sessions tailored towards Practical Nurses and Diploma RNs.
We are also happy to announce that we will have a education stream in French for our francophone members who wish to join these presentations, which will include a workshop on Continence and an Advanced Workshop on TPPN.

On Saturday, May 6th from 3-6pm ET and again on Sunday, May 7th from 9am-1pm ET, we will be hosting a Dermatology Program for Advanced Healthcare Professionals: "Translating New Knowledge to Practice" More details to come!
